Pulling off in second gear?

At certain junctions when crawling at low speed my car just wont pull off smoothly in second gear.The car will shake and rattle from the engine area if i drive off whilst in second gear!!

Is this normal, my ctr would drive off very eaisly in third gear from a stand still!

Any ideas?

Different gear ratios, need quite a bit of revs if pulling off in second!

I'm pretty sure that the 172 gearbox and clutch are made entirely from sandwiches and sellotape,

so i'd say this is normal.

Mine's like it pulling away in first, every time, it's really really wearing thin now.

weird biteing point that is very binary, u get used to it.

Ok that sums it up then lol. In second from a standstill it's really hard to drive off and seems as if it's in fourth!

Yep mine does when going lower than 15MPH! helps if you keep revs up if you in a hurry but I generally put it in 1st lol

mine is very difficult to drive smooth in traffic, judders like mad like im in the wrong gear, is this normal?

Yeah mate better ratios, but my td astra van will pull off smoother in third than the clio would in second lol

I do use first mate, but it's a little annoying sometimes having to change down when i shouldn't have too:dapprove:

Wish the clio was a 6speed.

It doesn't need it tho, neither does the ep3 imho. The gears are much better in the old dc2.

Ep3 has an excellent shift tho.
