puma vs clio v6

mate got a 1.7 puma and recons it is as fast as a clio v6, as in it does 0-60 in bout 6 secs timed.

opinoins on this besides laughter please

it is that-quoted figure is 9secs but if pushed prob 8.7-i just laughed when he told me, and he wudnt beleive me that it cant go that fast

the Ford Racing Puma is a little bit quicker, but nowhere near a v6, and on the twisties it would be bye bye puma

LMAO - 8.6 secs to 60 and 123 top end - my mate has one and |I crashd into one yesterday - well she reversed into me - doppey cow! He must think hes driving a cup!

lol oh dear hairdressers car. The puma racing is excellent but would get killed in a straightline by a 172, let alone a V6.

On the road though a V6 has plenty more grip and the mid engined layout is far superior so also on the bends it would be killed.

  Clio v6

I very seldom do the " Mines faster than yours stuff" but I have a review by EVO which says the Clio V6 is realistically about 5.7 secs to 60. I really cant see how a Puma could match a V6.

I have let many a Puma zoom past me simply beacause they bore me.

No challenge = No fun

I prefer to take on something more serious, and even get toasted. ( am I wierd or just too honest ? )

I agree, bit like leagues really, race people in and above your own league. Anything below is petrol wasting and contains no adrenaline rush. I had a go at a GT2 the other day, not because i thought i could do him, because i thought it would be challenging. And it was, the guy was obviously a sh*te driver and i kept up with him round corners, but then he put his foot down on the straights. Woooosh. Byethen.

the FRP is a good car (shock- admitting a ford is ok) but the std puma is nothing

compared to a 172 the std puma would have no chance

With ease. They are monsters on track. Suprise a lot of people.

You make some very good points Dust, although, i really cant help myself when the 1.3 nova is stuck on my rear bumper and then goes to overtake:devilish:

Ahh well those situations are acceptable, and v.amusing! You can hear them put there foot down.....bbaaarrrppp....then slowly but surely go to overtake. And all what goes through your mind is, er.....no mate, dont think so....va...va...voooom. :devilish:

I know clean16v - I had a 1.6 Orion attached to my bumper the other night - we are talking cms off my bumper - I let him and his big bore exhaust pass me once on the dual carrageway then thougt sod it and blasted past him. Pr!ck.

Not true, they are very good handling and maybe can carry more speed around corners due to the wider track but still pace lets it down overall.

I have a family member who owns a Racing Puma and to be honest it is not really that quick over your average b road and there are plenty round our neck of the woods. Nice looking car though. Has had it for about 3 months or so now and is already thinking of getting rid.

I would recommend you read the magizine article on this very website, 172 v Integra Type R v Racing Puma.

On track the Puma was quickest, but maybe there wasnt many straight bits.

The racing Puma is NO faster than my 16v in a straight line.

My mate has one and we raced back from uni many many times.

Although while i was twitching on 3 wheels while cornering he was gliding not twitchging at all.

Dont quote me on this as I could be wrong but I think the test figures for the FRP were 0-60 in 7.9secs. They basically took a normal Puma and dismatled it - then put it back together with some uprated parts- giving a FRP. I think they made a big loss on everyone due to the time it took to do - LOL - What bright spark decided to do it this way = Build a Puma - Dismantle a Puma - Rebuild a Puma with some extras = Loss!

lol. Stupid mailto:m*@her">m*#her f#*+ers. Wonder what it would be like if they put the new RS engine in one? They should have made a Puma RS or Cozzie. Could have been PhAt!

The FRP was a special edition of which they were supposed to make 1000. They only made 500 in the end because of a lack of demand, but I think thats more to do with the price of a practically bespoke car (£22k) than a lack of talent.

I think in the twisties it would be bye bye V6, Ford Racing Puma, has one of the bests front wheel drive chasiss, too good infact for its 153 bhp. These things corner like they are on rails, and carry so much speed through a corner it is unreal, we couldnt shake one through redgate and down the craners in a scoob, i doubt the twitch short wheel bases v6 would stand much chance, in a straight line it would win ofcause, but who likes driving in a straight line !

  mk2 172

there is a racing puma near my mums, i raced it a fe w weeks ago before i realised it lived on the next street from me mum!, a v6 would nail it in a dash, dunno how they handle
