Punctured Tyre.Please Help!

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Just bought myself an '05 182 Cup the other day. Talk about bad luck, Just had a puncture.:(

Obviously there's no spare wheel. The can of tyre inflator/tyre sealant says only to run the tyre for 30 miles, no more.

The tyre is going to need to be vulcanised I presume. This means it'll need to be sent away, meaning the car will be imobile for several days. This I can't allow.

So I'm thinking of buying a spare wheel(with tyre fitted) and placing it in the boot.

Does anybody know if can use a bog standard wheel of a base model Clio as temporary fixture, if so what wheels will I be able to use? Please help. Thanks

Can't your local tyre place do a repair on it there an then? If not can't you get a new tyre while that one is being done, an then you will have a spare tyre for if you get a new wheel?

Thanks for your comments guys.

I'm not certain but with vulcanising I'm pretty sure the tyre is sent away for repair. I could get a new tyre immediately but, not the cheapest solution. I was hoping that I wouldn't need to stretch to buying a 182 Cup wheel to place the returned tyre upon or vice versa.

So I was hoping if a wheel from a base model clio could bought second hand and placed on the car while the tyre is away?

Many thanks.:)

If the puncture is in the centre 3/4 of the tread any good garage/ tyre depot will be able to repair it while you wait! about 15 mins!

Excellent! Hoping it's within those parameters! Off to ATS or Kwik Fit. Woe be tide those monkeys should they scratch the alloy. The whole car is immaculate. Only bought it on Wednesday!

Thanks for you help everybody. Appreciated!:D

Just 'jokingly' ask the tyre fitter guy to be extra careful with your alloy. Being in that job he'll most likely know his cars and will perfectly appreciate your comment :)

Not wanting to bring the subject up again, but - imagine how I will feel when I take my CTRs 19" chrome spinners to the local tyre place :dead:

Yeah I can imagine. They aint the most careful! Then again it didn't make that much of a difference as when the wheel was removed the tyre proved to be punctured outside the repairable parameters according to the technician (about 3cm from the inside side tyre wall) also a slight bulge was present on the wall itself adjacent to the pucture. I asked if it could be vulcanised, he said he was unsure, but was concerned about the bulge.

Will try ATS for their comment. Anybody experienced this kind of thing before with more pleasing results than having to replace the tyre? If not anybody know where a 205 Michelin Exalto can be bought for a good price? :)

All comments appreciated. Thank you.
