putting the battery in the boot

as above do i need to run the earth back to the engine bay or can i earth it in the boot and just run power cable to the engine bay ? and what size audio cable ?

Earth lead needs to be as short as possible, so earth it in the boot.

I used a MGF positive battery lead just about the right length to do mine and used a exhaust rubber bobbin for the insulated live point in engine bay and a MGF one for earth to and put that to one of the pre tapped holes on rear panel after cleaning some paint off the covering terminal in vaseline !!
