The space basically. I love the car to bits but with two kids in the back it's a bit too cramped, i'm taking a Megane Trophy for a test drive tomorrow and just wanted to go there knowing roughly the minimum amount i can play with.

£8.5k it depends you might find loads of buyers you might fine none. I'd stick it up for £9.5k personally and see how it goes somone might pay that money for it.

I have a 54 plate black/gold with 12k on the clock and at carcraft I managed to squeeze 9.8k if i was gonna part exchange :D was well pleased, but didnt change in the end

Private sale is the only way to go if you want what its worth , a bit of a pain i know , but a dealer obviously wants to make money on the new car he's goin' to sell and the car he takes off you for px .

Put it this way , i was offered £4,000 for my mk2 172 px , i sold it on autotrader for £5,900 . So it depends if you want the convenience of px or the wait to sell it private . Mine sold 9 days after putting it on autotrader , worth the wait i think :)

Loads of 2004 plates on autotrader at the moment priced around £10,000 . The 05 plates are going for around £11,000 .So i'd go for around £10,750 , see what the dealer offers you just out interest .Let us know how you get on .

Thing is with part ex depends hwo much money thay have to play with I could give you £15k for a Ferrari etc as the ferrari may being sold for £20k more than it was bought for.

Totally agree Edde, be interesting to know just how much car dealers aim to make as a minimum from each sale involving a second hand car and a part ex, it's got be a couple of grand, aint it?

You'll know one way or another after lunchtime tomorrow.

mintblue, not sure whether youve been on meganesport.net, but there is a trophy forsale for 12.2k on an 05 plate. there is a big gap between private 225s and retail 225s, so might worth selling private and buying private. Depends on you situation with regards finance etc.

I pm'd that guy the other day i was very interested until he said he was in Barnsley. It's a bit too far for me. On the finance side of things, well that's not that much of a problem.

I just find part exing a lot less hassle but on the other hand i'm not gonna be mugged by a dealer.

Well yeah PX is easier, but then when i went to my local dealer today and saw a full fat 55 plate for 15k and i paid 10.5k for my 05 reg, I was quite pleased:)

I travelled 200 miles for mine, but for the saving... was worth it.

The guy is on holiday at the moment. Only slight concern is he seems a bit desperate to sell. He started off at £15000 now he wants just over £12000 for it:eek:. Anyways i'm 222.6 miles away from him, beat that;).

^^ imho, i think the bottom has fallen out of the meggy market in the first quarter of this year. But think it will stabilise around the 10k mark for a while now.

You can ask what you like for your car, but if you want to SELL it then you have to get real.....................

Seen 04's for 8k, 05's 9k+( these cars were low miles/ owner cars that sold), the 10k 04's & 11k 05's will be in autotrader till the cows come home, week in week out.................

Buying private means taking a chance no comebacks buyer beware etc, so no way are you going to get retail money for it.................

Buy private sell private the only way too go, so as to bet BUTFUCKED by the trade & also you don't loose "large" sums of money.

But you need balls to buy a car private for over 8K cash, you get a real rush when the deal is done..................satisfaction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
