Q for those of you with Forza 2 full game...

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
My mates Forza 2 arrived today, ordered through mail order from Play or Game I believe (cant recall which one). He cant play it until Wednesday, as his XBox360 is currently under repair. Anyway, what I was wondering was, are the sounds of the cars unique to the model? Ie does say, the Subaru Impreza 22B or STi sound like an Impreza boxer engine? Or are they fabricated engine sounds?

i watched a video from the developers that said each sound was tailored to the car but i havent played the game myself so couldnt tell you for sure

Not sure what you mean m8? The engine sounds are very accurate for each car (or at least the are on the demo) as they were on Forza 1. Even the Gran Turismo got the Scooby noise as it is obviously a destinctive sound

Cheers

Chris, just heard from a few guys that a lot of the engine sounds are basically computer interpretations of real engine sounds, and not specific to the car in question. I know Gran Turismo went to a lot of effort and research to recreate genuine sounds. I was just hoping the Impreza and Zonda etc have realistic notes which sound very similar to the real thing, and not just generic notes put together on a computer. It would ruin the feel of some of the cars if they had the same engine tones as other models.

no they dont sound like they should, alot of reviews had pointed this out and to be honest sounds do make a car what it is! all the GT cars sound pretty much they same but in real life theres a big diffrence between the grunty americans and the more purr like of european cars but hey its still a wicked game.

no gran turismo though

? The race cars on the demos couldn't be more different....infact I don't think any of the cars on the demo sound like each other unless you count V10s sounding similar to each other....unless they have gone backwards as IMO the original Forza had amazing engine sounds.

Easy way to notice is park up and wait for them all to come past...the noise from the Gallardo and F430 are brilliant...especially if you park near a slow bend and you can here them gear down and then accelerate way into the distance

I'm with chris on this, I thought the sound was spot on on the demo. Is everyone using surround sound and not just through their TV?

I think they will be fabricated to some degree, it would be impossible to have an actual recording for each different type of car, each mod done to the car and the amount of throttle being applied. But I think they've done great job, better than PGR3 by far

I'm not talking about the sounds of different cars. Thats all spot on. What I mean is the distinctive sounds of them. I mean, we all know the Subaru flat four rumble, and the Pagani Zonda squeal. Does this game use these sounds to replicate the real car engine sounds, or have they just used a sport noise for the Subaru etc and not the perfect sound boxer engine.

iirc they recorded a sample from each car then they just extrapolate the sounds for different situations loads etc
