Quarter Mile Comparisons

no offence mate but theres no way this can be very realistic. No way can a 172 beat a v6 down a drag strip. There might not be much difference ill admit if its a mk1 v6 but they are proven to be faster. Oh unless its a tuned 172

That web page is dangerous and inaccurate! Tell me the last time you saw a Ssanyong Musso 4x4 take out a Clio 16V!!!!

I should imagine they probably are accurate. If they were all put in by the same driver Id worry but they are all different drivers on different days, in different conditions, and no doubt at different drag strips. For example, a turbo car will run slower on a hot day, whereas a NA car wont be so affected. York always seems to run 2/10 faster for road cars because they have a decent launch strip. Some drivers slip the clutch, others dump it, some are slow starters and make up the remainder of the run with a lot of power, others have slow cars but run good times because they are good drivers with fast gearchanges and knowledge of their cars optimum powerband.

Id be suspicious if they did all make the book times, as that would be rigged for sure.

incidently, is a "10second car" one which does the quartermile in 10s? coz if so those ones on the fast and the furious are stupidly quick!

wot the... no way is a CLK230 this close in acceleration to the RS turbo!

mind u, most RS turbos r not standard. thought they were pushing out 200bhp as standard tho instead of a measily 132bhp!

No the standard RST wasnt that much of a fire breather. Just hard not to fettle them a little so that those that are still around nowadays are the modified ones. Hence why bog standard Series 1s are so sought after today.
