Quick Brake Disc Q

Just chaning my brake discs at the mo but cant get the blugger off?

Any ideas? Ive taken the screws out and removed the caliper etc. but no luck. It seems to be rusted on. Im scared of hitting it too hard case i do some damage?

Any techniques for removing stuck discs?

smack it with a hammer, the bigger the better. It may shatter so watch your eyes.

Keep hitting it pretty hard from behind and also keep turning the disc round so your not always hitting the same bit.

managed to get it off eventually took a good few whacks and a bit of wd40 but got there in the end. Just gotta do the other side tomo hehe

By the way, the brake pads werent marker clearly so i was guessing the ones with two yello dots on went together and the two plain ones would go together? Also, due to the shape of the pads i take it, it its pretty hard to get them round the wrong way. Just been for a spin and they seem to work fine, cant wait to get the other side done and bed them in

duno how much it matters, but youre not suppose to only replace one side then drive it, uneven braking? ah pedantic, sound like mr haynes, shape of pads you just get by comparing them to the originals.

yeah, was just testing it, cant see one day running old and new will make any difference.

Yeah i compared them in the end to get the shape, lines seemed a bit closer together though, oh well, works ok

well all done now, new standard discs and KTR Kevlar pads.

Just gotta wait a couple of hundred mile before i can test them properly.

Just wondering, is it likely the brakes will smell for a few days whilst the brakes bed in? Also, i take it the performance of the brakes will be quite bad until they are bedded in?

hope you cleared any rust of the hub so that the brake disks dont go on squint..

Dont want to get brake judder do ya ?

yeah used some emry paper and a wire brush, nice and smooth. braking seems fine at the moment.

Just curios as to what sort of performance i should expect at the moment, i was guessing around 50% of full capability for the early miles?
