Right,

I might be able to get my hands on some coilovers from a 182 cup race car and I was wondering if they are the same fitment as the 172?

Nope.

The top mounts are different on the coilover, they are designed to incorparate the strut brace, they may fit but you will prob need the brace. Not sure about the hubs and spacing but it looks the same.

The back is a little different, no rubber mounts are used at the top. You will need the lower special bolts for the bottom.

According to Eddes guide the hub spacing on a normal 182cup is different to a 172 anyway.
