Quick question

Not really sure what the right section would be to answer this.

Just wondering if there's any difference between sport and non-sport door handles on a mk2? I want to colour code mine but if sport ones are smooth then I'd buy and spray a set of them to save on sanding down the grainy effect.

As far as I know they are the same

Sport door handles are smooth and painted, non sport handles are black rougher feeling plastic, apart from that I think they're the same.
It probably wouldnt take too much effort to make non sport handles smooth with a good sanding down.

Another option is maybe to look for someone on here breaking a clio the same colour with cc'd door handles and see if you can buy the handles from them, that's what I done (I think it was just good timing and luck that the guy was willing to split them from the doors tbh or I probably would have painted mines myself)

There the same size but as gaz says the spray jobs are diffrent for example a black 1.2 will have a rough black/grey job and the sports will be colour matched and smoothed

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone know if ph1's had cc'd door handles? Because they only did ph1 sports in odyssey blue, replaced by monaco for ph2s. Thanks

I'm not sure if they done cc'd door handles on ph1 172 models, I think the bump strips on the side were black plastic as standard so I think the door handles would match these (might be wrong).

If your car is OB painting your door handles might be your best bet, I've not seen many ph1 172's in OB on here so I'd imagine it would be hard to find someone willing to remove door handles unless they had a buyer for the doors without handles (if they even have cc'd door handles!), as I said earlier I was just lucky I found someone on here willing to split the doors and handles
