Quick track rod question ....

Morning,

Today is my first day i can crack on with the car, up nice and early for me....

Need to change the drivers side track rod end today, got a joint splitter so the questions i want backed up in my head are:

If i count the threads, or im thinking mark it with red paint just for reference, then can i literally crack the bolt that tightens up against the track rod open... so the track rod is free..

Then with luck (no rusting) spin the track rod off after ive split the joint, spin the new one on and then tighten the securing nut back on, and put the ball joint into place...

All going to plan and the securing nut being in almost dead the same place, the tracking should be ok to be checked tomorrow yeah?

Is that how it works?

Not going to be driving too hastily but wont be able to get it checked till tomorrow...

Done now anyway, joint was very loose and clicking about, probably adding to my minor vibration when braking... so cheap and easy think ill do the other side too.

Was about £12 delivered, after market part not renault... well made, to the eye, old one was well shot so will see what the improvement is after wheel alignment... counted the threads so its close enough what it was before anyway (if that was aligned or not im not sure)
