  172 Cup
Just want a rough idea on value from you experts...

Clio Renaultsport 172 Cup registered March 2003

Covered 15,500 miles.

12 months MOT (done this morning a month early)

Inside and Out are immaculate. (Few stone chips but having these repaired/removed)

Think that's all that's needed.

So what we looking at for a private sale? £7750?

What about a part ex price, any differance?

aye id say 7k would be about right. the mileage is nice and low, but you really dont get much more for it. maybe 7250 at tops. expect a dealer to offer you around 6.5k.

  172 Cup
cheers peeps.

Had Clio's for the last 5 years (MK2 172 and then the Cup) added to the hassle over this time with dealers and warranty issues I fancy a change.

CTR 30AE all being well.

6.5K If your lucky ^^^^^^^

I was offered 4k for a mint 51 plate 172 ff , got £5900 for it private :)

Part exin on a new car they will offer you silly low prices for yours .

I've just gone through the process of buying a Cup. There may indeed by Cups out there for 6.5k private but all the ones I went to look at were priced like that for a reason!! If yours is as good as it sounds hold out for a higher price (7.5k at least).

There seemed to be a lot of buyers after Cups in particular when I was looking and on a number of occassions Cups I went to look at had sold by the time I got there.

If you're in no rush hold out for a good price, buyers are there :)

I was going to say the same thing, you get what you pay for in this world. The cheaper ones are cheap for a reason (most are prob well rough) sure you might be lucky & get a mint cup cheaper than a worse example.

If its is a decent one shove it up ofor more money. There are loads on autotrader for around the 8k mark!
Not saying put it up for 8k, but i reckon a bit over 7k would be a start.

  Cup 172
People on here are there own worst enemy for residuals...

Check Autotrader for similair cars local to you.

There was some fella going on about how he reckon a 22k 52 plate Cup was only worth 6k the other day....

Agreed!

Id put it up for 7500, then knock down to 7250 if no response.

If it came into my garage, i'd offer 6250 cash buy, 6500 part ex.

And how much would you expect to get for it on your forecourt ??

lol Exactly why I said I'd walk out.. He's going to give me £6250 and 10 minutes later have it marked up for £7250 on his forecourt.. Not with my car!!

Your right mate . Some people haven't got a clue , some are priced miles under .
Always price it a couple of hundred over and be prepared for the haggle , price it under and your giving it away .
Alot of people say that the new rs clio will affect the price of 172's / 182's but imo i don't think it will . There will always be a steady flow of people who want these models over the new mk3 rs :

1. because they can't afford a new mk3 rs

2. because they don't like the new shape .

Thats the way it goes though , sad but true . Some people want the convenience of a quick deal , part ex for new .So they have you by the short and curlies and give you well below the market value . Thats how they make their money :(
Privates sellings the way to go , but once your cars gone it can be a struggle for some people to view cars that involve travelling .

Its true. Any car on a forecourt is overpriced cos someone is making a profit out of it. I want to be buying the car from where the trader got it, not from the Trader.

However, a lot of people on here undervalue their cars... They base them solely on what they go for on ebay... It may take a few weeks to shift a car like a Cup, but it will go. Its the same with any higher performance car...

very true if a b*****d garage can sell my car for a grand more than me why cant i? im not going to sell it for lower,id sooner have it for sale for 6 months! at least ill get an offer nearer that price than knocking off a grand because its a dealer, so what? they dont do anything that i dont or havnt already done to my own car, they cant even clean them properly.

  clio v6
they might keep them in stock for quite a while...+ dealers have to warrant the car... if you buy private and it has been hit or has finance then you have no comeback...at a dealer they must give you your money back.
we all have to pay 17.5% vat on any profit ..so 175 quid to the treasury as soon as sold ( if a grand was made)...most people want a new mot / tyres brakes etc...average profit is @ 400 quid.

My mate recently bought a 172 Cup. Was new in December 2003, so a 53 plate, and has done 12k. He paid £7750 for it, and that was from a dealer (not Renault), which included two new tyres and a service.

Hope that helps price yours.

i just paid £6400 for a 172 on a 51 plate - 22k one owner full history with all toys
interior and exterior are absolutely unmarked - if you took the plates off you'd think it was brand new - only the kerbed alloys give it away. was up for sale at £6900

i looked around and couldn't find one for below £6500 and they were higher mileage.

guess it depends the area, seller etc.
