i personally wouldn't ever touch a viper again. Had the caf in the fog recess for a few months, and as a test, i smeared some grease in the inlet elbow to see if any dust got past the filter.... to my horror, after two months use the grease is COVERED in grit......... god knows how much has actually been sucked into the car

try that as a test, you'll be horrified!!!

yes, it was oiled up properly etc

ant

  yep.
fair enough. but who's to say they dont all do it? try the test on every filter then have a rant. :)

ok mate il give it a go! i thort all the vipers were the same size except from the inlet and outlet pipes on both ends! to fit differnt cars could be wrong..

well, i was reading a link off here a good few months ago to some site about porsche racing cars.... they did the test as they were finding their engines were needing rebuilds after every few races etc, they did that test on their car, they found coton gauze filters the worst, followed by the foam. the original airbox + new paper filter for every race left no dust/grit in the system

the upshot was engine builds became less frequent

make of that what you wil....

obviously paper filters will filter the best, but then as a downside they will restrict the flow of air more, need a compromise between flow and filtration.
