r clio 172 are good on nurburing track standard?

Hahaha

Does he mean?: "My car is a standard 172, will it be ok to take on the Nurburgring like this? Or should I make some changes first?"

i think he would like an over run remap and an air filter that sticks out his wing, oh and blue neons on the underside of the car!

In all seriousness, make sure you drain your brakes before you head out, last thing you need is a load of boiling brake fluid ruining your engine bay, you're better off not using it at all.

Damn.

I'll get my cote

I hope 'cote' was intentional! Lol.

As for the OP's actual question... No, you don't NEED to modify it. Making some changes wouldn't be a bad thing with the right modification's, but it's not a necessity.

It had to be done.

As for my serious reply:-

Get a service before you go, anything that's advisory should be sorted out. A few laps around the Green Hell will ask more from your car than about 4,000 miles of daily running.

Oh, and clear out the car before you set off, I can only imagine the last thing you'd want is 3 months worth of general detritus and discarded matter slapping you around the face as you flick through the left-right combinations

Best translate that back incase the OP reads it: "You aint gots 2 make da changez, bt sum off dem modz cud b gud. U dnt hav 2, so propa safe innit"

its a hot hatch, and one of the best of its time, of course it doesnt need anything done other than be mechanically sound!!

of course if you want to do something then feel free!!

personally id be sticking a decent set of discs and pads on it and getting the brake fluid changed along with oil and filter change. and remember a few laps of the ring is going to eat tyres so make sure your going to have enough tread to get home legally! also is the cambelt changed last thing you want is that going when your half way between uk and germany!!

  53 Clio's & counting
First thing is to get the car checked over properly.

No point in going if you have 1500 miles left on your pads as you will put a 1000 miles on them there and back, plus say 8 laps will kill them quickly. Also have any oil leaks, split CV boots or anything else you find fixed - there will be a very big bill if you break down on the ring.

So first thing is to make sure brakes have plenty of meat, and tyres have plenty of tread.

On that note, make sure you ahve good rubber - not mismatched makes or super cheap tyres - they are the only thing that physically holds you to the road, so make sure they are good.

Next step a service - nothing huge but fresh oil (and a decent make oil - the crap you buy from halfords will not be protecting the engine as well as better oils - its the same as buying a cheap loaf of bread - its the same thing as Hovis but the taste is much different - same with oil, just because it says 5w 40 on the bottle does not make it as good as an Ether based 5w 40 like Fushs titan pro S - whcih is what id recommend and what I use)

So now we have fresh oil, decent tyres - next brakes.

If you wish to upgrade then pads are most important - if your discs are worn/lipped then look at replacing them too. the ring doesnt tend to be too bad on brakes, but saying that iv killed a set of standard Clio pads there so upgrade if you can - not to improve your braking time, more to keep you safer and less prone to fading.

Dont forget brake fluid - old fluid will boil very quickly so get it changed.

Dont worry about rear brakes, they do very little so as long as they are in good condition then leave them be.

So we have fresh oil to help protect the engine, decent tyres, and decent brakes.

This will make a big difference on a 10 year old car, and to be honest id be very happy with a Clio in that state of tune.

You can upgrade more , but a 1*2 in a good state (ie with the above done) will be great fun.

Yep will be fine. I went in April and did flying laps and It was faultless. Mine is a standard ph2.

IMO it's no different than driving a unknown road fast in wales, unless you plan to do loads of laps you'll never learn it.
