R888 vs parada spec 2's

I use R888's on track but never used parada spec 2's at all. Just wondered if anyone had experience of both on track and how different they were in regards to grip?

Just thinking about tyre choice now with the price of R888's. Parada spec 2's are about £150 for four and R888 have jumped up mentally in price

Hankook RS2 is the next best thing to R888's. Much cheaper, and useable as an everyday road tyre as well.

Used to use parada spec 2, they are no where near R888s on track. They are not made for track so although they are cheap they only last 1/2 as long if that.

I wouldnt go back to parada spec 2s personally.

Nowhere near the level of grip but as a soft compound they are frightningly good in the dry!

I love my paradas but wouldn't want them if I drove spirited in the wet, which I don't.

I am currently using nearly new P' Spec 2's and did a torrential track day at bedford in them 2 weeks ago, I was surprised with how well they performed and due to the track temps had no issues with overheating, beading etc, a very good tyre in the wet compared to a lot of others I have driven on! I very much doubt they would take the abuse in the dry however.

Having owned a set of Ecsta V700 soft track ready tyres for a while I would strongly suggest getting a track orientated tyre if you want to get the best out of the days - the RS2s as Warren points out are growing in popularity and would prob be the one I would try next.

Not on track fella. I know debate rages about them as a road tyre, but I've seen them literally falling apart after half a track day.

Tbh im hardly involved with it, because im busy with my final year at uni. Carl is more involved i just hear about it now and again. Wish i was more involved though.

Doubt it, We have 2 track days booked in the first week of June. Which is my degree show, so not sure whether i will be attending them. Then i need to find a job So....

Very often tyres will perform better subjectively in full heavy wet conditions that damp/nearly dry when stuff like Yokohamas feel really slippery.

R888 vs Parada 2 is just not a sensible comparison - one is a full on trackday tyre, the other yet another "not bad in the dry" Yokohama road tyre. They'll be a massive difference in dry grip level.

Hankook RS2s are definintely worth a look now Toyo are being stupid with R888 pricing (gone up as much as 75% in some cases since early last year). Kumho V70a/V700 are supposed to be really good and are now noticeably cheaper than R888s.

Kumho did a semi road/track tyre called KU15 but it's difficult/impossible to get hold of in the UK.

The V700s were road legal, but only came with about 4mm of tread from the factory. I had a set in the soft compound, they managed 1500 road miles & two track days, and the grip from them was unbelievable in anything but standing water!

I ran RS2's and they are good but there no R888. Good allround tho and has a stiff track tyre sidewall

Spot on. Not ultimately as grippy, but cheaper, longer lasting.

No brainer, take the Hankooks & do 3 or 4 trackdays

Thought you were on about r888 with the £55 quid each. Lol

I use used r888 mate. Excelent tyres. Mine aren't road legal but they are good fir the track plus you can practically run them to slicks.
