Meggy has a far superior front suspension set up to cope with the extra power.

R26 is silly in the rain, grips like a hoe, i'll be up there too come coilover time in feb

you can see why so many cups die in the winter...

PMSL! 172 is as bad in the snow! ABS is useless! And the ESP is plain dangerous!

Not going for a bigger turbo till this one blows lol

run it at 1.4 bar then ;) it'll happen quicker

In honesty I'd be surprised if you could do more than spike momentarily to that boost anyway. The air will be superheated, so you'll gain very little, and the intercooler you have certainly wont be enough in that instance. Bigger turbo will flow more air for less boost, and less heat created, so it's a double win.

running at 1 bar at min an turbo can be glowing an intercooler can still be cold. I have been told it can do 1.4 nicely but i dont want people start saying i cant take advice etc

exhaust housing glowing isn't too unusual, just displays high EGTs....but it's a turbo, you normally map the fueling richer on boosted engines because of this. It's intake air temp I was refering to

I've used T28 and GT28r turbos on a lot of engines (nissans 1.8 and 2 litre in the main) Past 1.2 bar you just dont see more power, and there's so much heat created the boost drops off pretty quickly up the revs.

Boost is relative as it's a measurement of restriction, and every engine is different, but going by what I've seen on similar sized 16v engines, I would stick to 1.2bar tops

remember a core's flow effciciency for cooling vs flow could cause a low temp but high pressure drop across the core, which is good for cooling but bad for overall power... flow is what you want.
what turbo are you running at the moment?
EGT's and wideband fueling are your important things to keep your eye on for reliability.

I've mapped GT28RS units and they give a good surge of torque when pushed to 1.6bar mid range, but I taper them back down to 1.2bar top end..

badger 5:eek:..... is that ''THEE'' badger5 AKA bill the vag 1.8t legend?? if so i salute you pal BIG welcome!!

What kind of power does that produce, 0 to 60 and top end?

If its a T28 i would of thought 1.4bar would be fine. Any actual spec, A/R etc?

I ran a standard turbo on a punto GT at 1.4 bar, lasted 3 months then blew, bought a t25 stage 2 as a replacement and ran that constant 1.4 bar and its still going noew 2 years later on another GT.

a 1.4 8v is going to show hugely different boost characteristics to a 2l 16v

1.4 bar i was told just over 300bhp 0 to 60 is fast :) lol and top end its 145

At 1 bar and 260bhp i'd say it would do 0-60 in around 5.5ish. Sound about right Ryan?

At 300bhp must be around 5 seconds to 60.

The big difference will be the 0-100 times because to get a good 0-60 time you have to ge the power down 1st which can be difficult in a fwd car.
