Radio Code - 172

Hey Guys - can anyone help out? lost the radio code for my head unit

digits on the side are E844

intersting. i tried this code (found it via a google search) but '1944' didnt work!

Any thoughts as to why this might be the case? does the radio lock itself for some reason? should i disconnect the battery, reconnect and try '1944' again maybe?

Did you do the last step? Press and hold the enter button three seconds? It doesn't automatically accept the code when put in.

Yeah, followed the steps; ill dissconect the battery and try again, will see if that fixes it

If it's locked leave the ignition on for 30 mins.

Yeah I got 1944 too

If your headunit is the wrong one for the age of the car (pre-05 is tunerlist and 05 onwards is update list) then the radio wont work at all and you'll just see "ERROR" on the display

If it's not asking for the code hold down 2 and 5 on the headunit and it will reset it, the radio will play for 2 mins and then it will ask you for the code

I'm sure it's 2 & 5, or maybe 2, 3 & 5. Something like that haha

thanks gents - i disconnected the battery and reconnected to reset, then left the ignition on for 5mins and code worked fine . Problem solved.
