radio error?

Ok, i have a 2002 dynamique plus and i didnt have my radio code, so my mate gave me hes old code and headunit exactly the same, same model number and everything out of hes 2004 dynamique. Not that it should make and difference what car it come out of but (only thing i know from the newer dyanamique is the door looms, dash and from bumpers are different) but when i put it in it come up with error and wont let me put the code in?

Anybody have an idea?

The code will not be the same, it's pointless trying.

Once a code is entered incorrectly you have to wait for it to re-set itself. The more times you enter the wrong code the longer this takes.

The correct code should be in your owners/service manual. Failing that Renault will provide it.

Nooo i know all the codes are different, i have a new radio and the correct code for it. My old radio dont have a code thats why ive replaced it. Just wondering why the new radio comes up with error before ive even put a code in

Ah I see, apologies for that then.

As for the error, are you certain it's a working unit? When was it removed from the other car?

it was removed about a year ago, was working before that. i was thinking leaving it over night, failing that disconnect the battery?

has the code been entered wrong too many times before? im 70% sure this happened on my old mk1

right, diconnected the battery for a hour and still says error when turned on. Could this just mean the radios dead?

Ive just been looking at this tonight. You have 3 chances to enter the code.

If you get the 4th chance wrong. It disables for 2 minutes. then the 5th chance wrong. it disables for 4 minutes. Builds up by doubling eachvtime. Says in tthe handbook.

Does it something like CD Error. If so, you cant get round that. It has to go to renault for them to sprinkle fairy dust on it!
