Rally Car stolen

Sorry, not clio related..but figured it would get best exposure here for this topic which no-one wants to happen to their beloved car....

This is post on behalf of a friend...

Some thieving have stolen our rally car

It's a white Mk2 Escort reg no NLF227V fitted with a 2 litre Zetec engine with twin 45's on a Weber alpha management system.

If anybody hears anything please let me know - the car took 3 years to get together and we obviously want it back (fat chance). The theft was recorded on CCTV (the car was in a yard with lots of expensive plant machinery but was the only thing taken). The car was stored in Maidstone.

As a consequence we are out of action and severely out of pocket.

The car was in a gated, locked yard, covered by CCTV, it's not on a main road (the yard is served by its own dedicated road) so it's not in plain view of any casual passers by. They had to move some other stuff to get the rallycar out, it would be too much hassle for a casual joyrider, some utter just wanted our car.

gutting... really hope they get it back... but think that will have gone abroad.

Yes mate. Registered shortly after the bird bought her valver back in 2003 and have a look over now & again, but don't feel the need to post all the time

IDEA - i read an article about a guy that had his 911 stolen so he put an advertisment on E-bay under Porsche 911 section ( cars for sale ) with a big sign saying STOLEN. He posted all the details about the car and within 2 days a guy rang up saying he had been offered the car but with different plates on - he had simply recognised the rare factory option alloys fitted and realised that it was that very car. They caught the thief and got the car back.........worth a try ?

It seems a lot of effort (and potential risk) for them to go to the extremes that they did. They must have clearly been watching how and where the car was stored on a regular basis.

Absolutely gutted for you. All that time, effort and money pumped into such a classic like that. And then to have some sh1theads steal it from you.... :dapprove:

are there any identifing features of the engine, gear box etc? painted certain colours? serials(i know they can be grinded off) but worth a shot

If they are breaking it then parts may well turn up there.

There are also loads of people connected with old escorts etc.
