RAM Question

  2004 1.2 Dynamique
My friend is wanting to upgrade the RAM in his PC, he currently has 128mb DDR 333mhz

Will I be able to put a 512mb DDR 400mhz stick in and be able to run it alongside the 128 333mhz stick or must they both have the same speed i.e 400mhz with 400mhz and 333mhz with 333mhz

You can put faster ram in (i.e 400, 533 etc..) but it will only run at the speed of the slowest stick.

You cannot use DDR2 ram however.

2X512MB PC4000 Geil Value or something would be fine and only cost you £60~

Unless you need faster timings and 1T otherwise value ram doesnt cut it.

Geil don't make PC4000 Value ram, it's only available in PC3200.

Depends on the timings etc.

But 2 x 512 would be better. But it all depends what the system is used for. I doubt the guy is a heavy gamer if its running 333mhz ram so 512 would probably be fine for use as a daily internet comp and work machine etc.
