Rattles in 197 doors

  Clio 1970000000
I have rattles in both of my doors. The noise comes from around where the speaker housing is and although annoying (especially from the passenger door) is not the end of the world.... It is probably such a small movement that it will be hard to sort out.

Questions:

1) Does anyone else have rattles in the same place? Before you say that it is something I have put in the door bins, its not.

2) How hard is it to take the speaker covers off? Can I take them off without unscrewing anything else? Same goes for the rear speakers please.

Thanks

i don't know about the fronts but the rears come off with a bit of pressure iirc using a screwdriver in a tiny little slot. they basically just slot on. you don't need to take any trim off to get the rears out.

plus there aren't any rear speakers. only the cables to fit some. the 197 as standard only came with front speakers.

I have a rattle coming from driver's door, driver's side vent, driver's seat, driver's seatbelt thing.

A temporary fix for the door rattle is to elbow it :p

I have been listening to my rattle and reckon that if I door panel off I probably wouldn't find it as it could be something tiny causing the problem. That's why I was thinking of just taking the speaker cover off and investigating from there. If you find out that the speaker cover can come off, please let me know.

I think I will just live with it and put it down to chararcter. Considering some of the posts I have read about horror stories that others have had with their car, I really don't have anything to be unhappy about. I think my car is the nuts.

To get the grills off the fronts its exactly the same as the rears

Slip a screw driver under the gril of the fronts i.e end of screw driver down inside of door bucket etc, If you feel under the grill you will feel a very small slit and slip the tip of the screw driver in there and it will pop off... Theres nothing that can rattle in there though as the speakers are screwed to a plastic cage so i doubt the speaker grill is your culprit

OBTW my 197 has no rattles (yet)

I have rattles from the moment I turn the engine on to the moment I tun it off. I'd get used to it as the car gets older.

funny thing my door speaker cover worked its self loose :S didnt expect it i thought they were quite sturdy
