Realistic MPG for a 182

Hi,
I am looking at getting a 182 but dont know if it going to be sensible enough to use for work. Basically i will end up doing around 6-8 miles of A road and then around 32-24 of motorway each day. Bearing this in mind what kind of mpg would you expect? I will obviously be driving pretty sensible on the way to worth so revs will be kept down etc.
Thanks
daniel

i'd say a little more 34-38, lot of motorway miles there.

all depends on how you drive it really. drive at 90 you'll get 32-33 iirc.

at 80 maybe 34 ish.

tbh, for the performance you get, 32+ is very good. plus 32 is hardly bad, it is pretty darn good.

I do the same mileage mate, I get about 36MPG on the motorway and around 32 on A/B roads. Very good fuel economy for what it is

thanks a lot guys.
the mpg is very good for a sporty car but the costs do add up. its either a 182 or a diesel barge (525d or similar). Plus side is that my gf could drive the 182.

38 would be pretty good as a heavy diesel wouldnt get much better than that.

Nonsence.

I can average 50+ on a 25 mile commute to Glasgow on 18 miles of hilly A roads and 7 miles of congested town driving.

Even got 55mpg once on the way to a cliosport meet at the otherside of Glasgow ;)

Mid-34's here - a midge's better with the ITG panel filter installed.

Usually £40 a week in jungle-juice.

As Ste 172 says, it's good mpg for what it is.

in slow moving traffic under - 2krpm in 5th - im sure it read 47mpg. normally about 35 ish. as someone said tho that is really good.

I get 30/31 on an average week, thats hooning and driving in commuter traffic on mixed roads and motorways.

  Mk2 172
I drive 35 miles round trip to work in town and on normal A roads and average between 35-38. its got better with more miles on it. used to only manage 32-34

God!! do the 172/182 Clios get that much mpg?? My 230 bhp TDI Golf only averages 39mpg!!! You lot must drive around at 30 mph to get that sort of mpg!! every 2l 16v car I have had over 150bhp has been high 20's mpg

depends on weight of your right foot. personally, i'd be happy with 32 on a trip like that. I did 300miles on a full tank at the weekend - drove Brum to London and back - got 36mpg, but I wasn't exactly going slowly on the Mway!

if mpg is a big issue for you, maybe you should think about a diesel.

It's not a huge issue really but it def a factor in buying any car you know you will a lot of mileage in. I thought about a diesel but i would get bored with that and end up buying something else for some fun on the side. So one car which does less mpg is better than two car of varying mpg.

  b/g 182, meg tourer
i reset my mpg meter last week and drove 4 miles pretty steady but not stupid steady and i got 46.8mpg!!!!!
but mixture of motorways and city driving usually averages at 36mpg. it im taking it steady its more like 38mpg

If you're disciplined and you stick to 70 on the motorway you will easily see over 40mpg for that section of your journey, returning a combined total over 35mpg IMO.

PLus sticking to 70 in a clio means you can hear yourself think.

Bear in mind that the computer quotes optimistic figures folks (well, mine did anyway).

And *cough* if you're always pushed for time (like myself) then 28 is realistic. :S
