Realistic P/X prices

  Shhh
Been looking around for cars, and a few dealers have offered £??? for the 182.

Ive looked at parkers, auto trader for valuations, but the dealers are way below the p/x value stated on this.

Why.? and is there anywhere more honest as im starting to get sick of people just offering me crap cash..

Alias

04 Clio 182, 60,000miles, FRSH,V.Good Condition.

  Audi A3 TDI 170 B.E.
I was given £6000 for my 182 same as yours with 46k on the clock.

So I guess they giving you £5500???

Did you go to a Renault dealer?

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
Because they a robing barstewards and want to make a killing even before you sign up to your new car.Superfastdan will tell you the mark up if he's honest

I am on the other side (looking for 172/182) and think it is great, I can't believe prices are so low on 182's at the minute.

Dealers use CAP or GLASS guide for valuations and i believe these are well below parker's guide prices on all cars! What car has a valuation page on their website which allows a mileage adjustment, and seems closer to Glass guide, for a more accurate valuation.

I was gutted cos I missed out on an 05 182 (27k) being advertised on autotrader this week for 6k at a BMW dealer -> went to auction b4 I could view it!!!

As a rule I always try to sell privately and buy privately.

Much less, thats why im not buying the car is its out of reach from the cash we have available.

Dont want to take a loan out for a car again when only on a single income these days.

Just p/x my 172.

All websites said trade price was about £4600, dealer said £4050. They gave me £4750 for it, so I presume the "real" dealer trade price was about £4600 too?!?!

i have found that a dealer would give u more than a small garage cos they bump their prices up on their cars to compensate. Was offerd 900 part ex for my fiesta but a small garage would only offer me 200 at a push. It was a heap of s**t tbh. Sold it private for 600

Looking for a A4 estate now as little one is 5 weeks old..

Current Auction Price (CAP) which most dealer use now for valuations values it as the follow:

Trade:5475
Retail:6675

So realistically most should be willing if you push to get close to 5500. Thats in good nick, if there is bodywork that needs to be done then obviously this would be deducted.

I got £7200 for my 05 182 with 25,000 miles 3 months back. It was an import though, although I'm not sure the dealer (not Renault dealer) knew.

Part ex'd it for an '02 Xsara VTS, full service history, 55000 miles on it worth 3000. Not as fast as the 182 but close enough and a damn sight cheaper and easier to tune!

parkers guide can normally be found on the same shelf as the beano and the dandy(alledgedly) at all good news agents.;)

I got £6.8 k for my 182 34k on the clock!

Ask them what it will cost to change coz they can mess with the figures on the new car!

The only way to strike a proper bargain is to walk in with the cash!

We have a few cars to view, going to start local today to see if the wife really likes the car. She cant drive at the moment, and maybe the A4 is too big for her.

In her eyes, she wants to keep the clio, but in reality is we want to go shopping, and we leave the till, open the boot and find the pram in the boot, the shopping goes on the rear seat between the kids, and on the floor in the front.

The clio 182 is really in practical for 2 children, nevermind 1 who is under 6 weeks old and needs alot of stuff in tow.

We have some cash available to strike a deal, the problem is that we dont think it will be enough, and the continual low offers from dealers just makes me want to keep the 182, and buy a car for the cash we have.

The reality is that there is no more cash available for a 2.0lts petrol sporty car which gets 34mpg on a good day, or 28-30mpg on a bad day as any spare cash that is left if spent on baby food / baby clothes.

Thats life on a single income these days..

Mate, that's exactly why I needed to get rid of mine (cash due to only one income and two little kids). At the minute I'm getting 34mpg from the Xsara but I'm doing a few motorway miles in there.

New baby on the way is reason we are buying one! Was gonna get a Civic Type R but decided to buy a family car and a 172/182 for bout same money. Trouble is I'm ending up with the family Car!:(

How does that work out??

Bought family car private and will be buying clio private as well, still can't bear to aid in lining dealer's pockets.
