right then, im hoping by april to have some coilovers, so how much is a reasonable price to have them fitted?

also, someone told me it would be best to have the car laser alligned aswell because the whole suspension set up has changed, is this true?? how much would that set me back??

The laser alignement is just for tracking...

You need the full car setup after fitting coilovers.
A race team is the best bet.

Somewhere like Northampton Motorsport.
Roughly looking at about £150 (+/- a bit) for just setup.

the laser alignment/tracking cost me £24.95 from pro tyre in enfield.
that should give you a clue to how much that would cost.

regarding someone fitting your coilovers.... speak to fredyozzasport.. i'm sure the xtra cash could come in handy for him.. plus he is a genius when it comes to coilover fitting :)

thanks for the help, just doing a bit of research on it so i know how much i need to put aside!

Thats £150 above i mentioned was for having it setup properly and NOT fitting.

Its crucial to have it setup properly and not just have your tracking done.

so how much would fitting and the setup be??

how much would i be looking at overall price??including buying the coilovers and fitting, setup and whatever esle is needed??

Well the FK's are roughly £485 ?

You may find a company that can fit and setup at a reasonable price. Or get someone to fit them as best they can get (never will get them 100% accurate) then have them setup at a motorsport company.

So add at least £250 on top of purchase price.

£445 delivered to you door, from old johnny2modified, if i'm not mistaken.

and if im right, and johnny sees this thread. send me over a sticker :)

so if i set aside £750 then that should see them set up exactly how they should be??

more than i thought to be honest but from what i read they are definately worth it!

i should be keeping my car for at least another year aswell so i should get the use.

£70, that fitting or setup??

dan page said he would fit them for me for £40, so at the minute im looking at £445 for the coilovers + £40 fitting + whatever the setup price will be

  Chocolate Bar™
70 quid for set up and paid 50 quid for fitting by fred but iirc prices have gone up since then

also, someone told me it would be best to have the car laser alligned aswell because the whole suspension set up has changed, is this true?? how much would that set me back??
Anyone who fits them should be able to get a decinet enough setup.

Basically a touch of toe in then depending how you drive 1 to 1.5degress negative camber at the front.

that was back in the days before i started Yozzasport fulltime (when i was a free loading student) when you work with clios all week, the last thing you want to do is fit someone in in your spare time for some beer money

we can fit and setup (or just fit), but at our normal hourly rate of £45ph+vat

i'm pretty good at it, ask Middo how accurate my setup was when i did his (by eye, using no fancy tools!!)

in the pm you said about 3 hours labour, is that for fitting and set up??

thats gone straight over my head!!!

OK basically no need to asjust toe in etc.

The Preterd your looking at the front wheels straight on there like this

| |

Thats 0 degrees camber ie the wheels are at 90 degrees to the ground

/ \

Thats say - 25 degress camber but since most cars are negative people never often say negative) you want yours to point like that.

The wasy to check is to get a spirit level and a rules and using maths you work out so over say 15cm of vertical height using a spirit level to give you a straight edge the distacne to the wheel should be different by a few mm (I think its 3mm for -1.5 degrees).

Whoever fits the coilovers should be able to get very close to that.

right, thanks for clearing that up, i understand the camber part about the wheels angle but thats about it as far as suspension set ups!!!

setup depends how well the coilovers have been installed

example - you install them yourself, and we find a problem, we'll either send you packing, or we'll have to rectify any faults

get where i'm coing from?

setup depends on what you want doing, if its just an alingment, you'll be best off going to a tyre place, as we're expensive for just an alinment (setup time etc)

if i were you i would suggest you budget £200-£250 for fitting and setup by pros
