REALLY loud road noise....all of a sudden?

Hi Guys,

As per title really - past couple of weeks I started noticing that my car (mk2 ph2 1.2 16v) has become increasingly louder...just had it all jacked up etc, brakes arent binding / no scraping, exhaust is all fine - been round checked for blowing etc. Funny thing is it only happens when moving - never happens when stationery.

Tends to get REALLY loud at around 45mph - 55mph then quietens off a bit.

No marks on tyres / no marks on the arch liners to show of any wearing.

Unsure what else to check really - any ideas would be much appreciated.

Ta :approve:

Grabbed the wheel and waggled side to side and no play at all at either side.

Taking it to local gordons to see if they can diagnose for me.

Will keep uopdated.

Well guys it turned out to be the wheel bearing on the passenger rear side.

Had a good old pull on the wheels - no strange sounds when turning the wheel but thought bugger it and changed it - guess what!

No more noise :)
