Really need some advice!

Hi everyone. I posted a little while ago that my willy 1 has been declared a total loss by admiral, my insurance company. Yesterday they sent me a settlement offer of £1003.98! This includes deducting £796 outstanding on the premium, £500 excess charge and £80 fee for retention of my number plate. But she was mint as they come and always looked after, and now im really pissed about the whole thing.

Can anyone give me some useful advice for getting the proper replacement value of the car from my tight arse insurance company?

Ta :)

Look for other Willy for sale in Auto Trader and places like that, then send them to your insurance company to show them what the going rate is for a car the same as yours, and point out that is what you will accept (minus deductions obviously) as a minimum.

Yep!

Admiral did the same to me, send them adverts of what a similer car would cost and they will almost certaintly up it. What was the mileage?

try and get some evidence of the bills etc you have spent... plus recent photos.

then look for adverts of others in your condition, auto-trader etc, then push hard for more money...

good luck

Refuse the offer, get on autotrader and the like and do some investigation. Basically go back to them with a few cars that were in the same condition, age, mileage and say thats fair/true market value.

From what i hear, insurance companies always give you a sh*tty first offer.

Get a letter from an independant specialists ( official letter ) with an engineers report stating the rarity and value of the car. Also contact a main dealership and ask them to check there "Classes guide" for the value of a mint version of your car - ask them if they can perhaps write this down and then send them to the insurance company along with pics of your car.

Thanks everyone thats a great help.

brazo - mileage was about 80k

Ive got some great pictures of the car, and loads of history so ill send them some copies.

Ill keep you all posted
