Really noisy steering when cold/first started

Hi, my steering is really really noisy when its first started in a morning, had not noticed this untill about a week ago, is this sometihng to be concerned about? Also when I have a full lock on it kinda like judders/bangs, is this releated?

Hi, Sounds like the pump may be on its way out. I have had a couple now that start with your symptoms, then have seized. Check your fluid is a nice deep red colour and on the max mark, and also have the belt and tensioner checked as these can also cause this problem. The tell tale sign for a pump failure if it is not leaking, is the fluid turns dark red/black and sometimes has swarf in it. (looks like glitter).

Yep hopefully mate, do you have a Renault place in Hull? I'm not too far in Sheffield an looking for a good place for my 48k service (and too look at what i think is a lamba sensor prob) prob in jan/feb

i know a few ppl that have been to top gear hull/east yorkshire performance and they have all said how good they are and not a bad price

topgear - it was john with the exc 172 and coley with the 206 180, keep up the good work
