Rear ARB - Can't see why you need one ?

I've been pondering about whether you actually need one. On independent suspension i can totally see how it works, bolts to the chassis and then to the suspension so it has something ridget to counter act the roll. But on the clio, I can't see how it does anything. Its bolted to the rear axle.... 1 solid piece of metal therefore what is it actually preventing ? Is it reducing the twisting of the rear axle ?

I fitted one, and it definitely made a difference - whether it actually has or it's just in my head I don't know, but money well spent in my opinion

Back end seems a lot more planted, although people have commented that the back end looks a bit skippy when following at fastish corners, but that's probably due to not much weight on the back - but it doesn't feel skittish when driving so doesn't matter to me in the slightest

So yes it does make a difference

Me neither, an RARB was next on my list of mods but after a bit of reading I'll be spending my cash on mid-range coilovers like BC's and getting it corner weighted instead, more cash yeah but the CS needs it if a dedicated track car as the OE set up is far to marshmallow like at the limit.

ARB makes hell of a difference in the tighter corners (roundabouts etc), it really does turn in better and less understeer

There's a hell of a lot of flex in the Clio rear beams.

White line anti roll bars definitely make a difference! Less understeer and a more mobile rear end, makes the so much more fun

Jack up one of the rear wheels and see if it lifts both or just one. Then you'll see what it does.

Whether you want one or not is a different question.

Can see the difference they make if you jack up the rear of a clio with one fitted. Can lift the whole rear of the car easily jacking it only on one side, instead of it leaving the other wheel on the ground.

I've had mine off the car for a while and it just doesn't feel anywhere near as lively. I like a loose back end though (giggity).

I'd like to try the pms rear arb.
I rate my Whiteline one well Dan, you've got a couple of different settings on it too to play with

Not sure how the PMS one compares but I'm sure it's decent quality, just may be a bit racecar orientated

Saying that mines on the hardest setting and with the updated drop links it would be interesting to know how it compared to the PMS one

PMS one doesnt hang down like the whiteline so I am considering one

I loved my whiteline, made the car feel much pointier and hugely reduced understeer in slower corners. Was worth every penny. Stiffened the rear end up a treat:

I'm sure a set of coilovers properly set up will give more benefit but as a cheap and easy mod to improve the handling I thought it was excellent.

I've always been puzzled by these too. Not once did I ever find my 172 Cup, 200, or my ST to be too planted at the back.

They're mobile enough as standard in my opinion.

Having said that, I'm sure Tony and Jay ran/run one on the Burpspeed car so I'm sure there are benefits, if only to really fine tune a well developed and tested race car's setup.

On a road car though, I question it myself.
