Rear Brake Bias Valve

Does anyone know how to adjust the rear brake bias valve?

Ps its a 172 CUP so manual adjust only, i.e not connected to rear axle.

Doesnt have one, Dont look for it!!

If its a MOT thing, they need to read the VOSA update that was sent out. Or get 2 people to sit in the back.

i think you'll find the cup HAS got one, how else does it stop all presure going to the rear discs? believe me all pressure is not going to the rear discs cos the brakes at the mo don't hardly remove the surface rust, and the handbrake locks the back wheels! I've found the valve, similar to other models but is not connected to rear beam cos it's preset at the factory, however it's a manual set i believe cos my rear brakes hardly work.

I don't think you can adjust it. I had s**t loads of trouble getting mine through its MOT. I think it is set as it is. Most Cups have very low efficient brakes. Mine were so low I had to have people sit in the back while it was tested for its MOT, as it wouldn't pass without anyone in the back.

Ok, it has one, but it does nothing. Better? The rears do next to nothing, if you searched, you'd find that cups have very little wear on the rears. you cant adjust it (as far as 99% of people are aware). I think adjustment is for ABS on the chubbies

there has to be something that can be done to make them work, i'm fed up of having to use the handbrake to try and clean em up and locking the fronts because the backs don't work properly

surely thats bad then cos do you have people in the back all the time? if not that means your car is unsafe because it can't pass an mot without people in the back. my 205 will lock all 4 wheels if you really push hard, not just front or rears!

It is bad, and that is exactly what I said. When ever I haven't got people in the back, which is most of the time, my rear brakes are not good enough to pass a general safety test that all cars have to go through. But, that is what VOSA said to do, and they spoke to Renault, who confirmed that this is just how the car is set up. I can really see that excuse working when someone is killed as a result of the brakes not being good enough, and it is found it is a result of the rears not working.

It's a by-product of the Cup's intended habitat - the track.

If there was anymore rearward bias, you'd lock a back wheel every time you brake deep into a corner and unload the rear. As it stands, with the factory set-up, it just wags its tail a little, and you can then get straight back onto the throttle - (for me anyway) it's set-up perfectly.

Not looking forward to my first MOT come November though.

leave it how it is, or if you really really really really really want to be able to adjust it, why not just install an in line bias control valve

Wagging the tail would be one thing, IF it would do it! i get more lift off oversteer than rear brakes causing the arse to wonder!

I agree the cup was race track born and thats how i like it (i race a stockcar) but i agree with one post i read that Renault could have saved even more weight and not fitted the brakes at all! LOL

oh well have to put up with rusty discs and MOT failing problems!
