Rear brake disc problem?

  172
had the window down today and heard the rear discs rubbing slightly when i braked, i think its time to replace them.

I can get some mintex ones thro work, they are less than £50 per pair which is fine.

However having browsed Yozzasport and GDI they have theres priced about £150 because of the ABS rings or something.

Can i not just swap these from mine?

Can someone explain what i need to do, cost wise it needs to be cheap cos ive just bought a cup spoiler and some new fogs!

wheel bearings aswell fella, its nigh on impossible without causing damage (and pointless) to remove your old wheel bearings and press them into your new discs

It's not worth the bother getting the £50 discs IMO as they'll come without bearings which will cost you another £50 plus getting someone to press them in. By the time you've done it it's just extra hassle for the sake of saving about £10. Don't re-use your old bearings as if the discs are shot the bearings will probably be old and knackered soon anyway - it's a total false economy.

Fred's prices are about as good as I can find - no connection to me just an opinion.

Fred - I'm after a set of rear discs and pads for my 172 Cup so I need discs without the abs rings. Can you supply the discs without the rings fitted? What's the price?

Oh, and I'm after some DS2500s for the front as well. Any chance of a deal/saving postage for buying that lot at once?

Cheers

I cannot see the bearings costing £50 although I may well be wrong. A industrial press will be required for the fitment of the bearings though. I managed to split an industrial vice, as used for train repairs straight down the middle when fitting a bearing to my Chavalier strut.

The bearings are £24 each just a normal bearing press will do the job.

YS prices are cheaper than factors for this package
