Rear brakes sticking/binding on a 182??? :(

  K20 EG Hatch
Right I have never ever had this problem but over the past few days I have noticed when pulling off my rear brakes are biding and you can hear them upto about 5mph. The car doesn't seem to roll as freely so they are deffinately stuck on???

About a week ago it went into my local garage for braided hoses (never had a problem with them before so i think it must be just a coincidence).

I called them to ask them about it and they said it wont be because of the hoses that they fitted which i do believe them but more than likely the handbrake sticking?

Do i pay them to sort it or is there something i can try myself?

Cheers.

whip the rear wheel's off and take a look at the calliper.

look for any sort of obstructions or dirt etc.

If you cant sort it, then consider taking it to a garage.

Sounds like the handbrake to me, i had the same problems with mine, (granted it isnt a sport and therefore doesnt have rear discs). but my handbrake was sticking slightly and doing same as above, i thought il wait til the weekend and sort it, after a few days it was so bad the car wouldnt reverse, not good when you have to reverse to get out of parking spaces, i was revving the arse off it and basically had to drive 10-15 yards with the handbrake stuck firmly on to get it to free up a bit, i was told to get it in immediately, the last thing you want is the handbrake pulling on, jamming at 70mph.

Although, saying that, it could just be a disc/pad/caliper combo considering the recent work carried out.

Will be an easy fix when the mechanics have the wheels off.

as above that was proberly the brake shoe material came away from the lining, rear brakes on 172/182 have a habit of sticking on when damp/wet but if you never had a problem before it could be the pads stuck in the housing
