Rear bumper

just got a color coded rear bumper for my mk1 and want to smooth it but the bump strips are boded in, is it best to just color code them and then smooth out the body line at the bottom of the bumper? and can you fill the bump strip at all as it has a few deep scratches? cheers!

I don't think i've ever seen smoothed out mk1 bumpers, i'd imagine that smoothing them out is quite a task. I think they look ok just colour coded but with the black rub strip parts.
