I was going to get rear spacers and noticed you can get the shims to adjust rear camber is this worth doing any pics of it been done ?
Also should I have my alignment checked before hand the previous owner claims it was done recently it does drive straight
I would also like to know the answer to the reason why people go for rear camber. If your giving the rear wheels camber that should surely give more cornering grip to the rear and then in turn give more understeer.. Is that right? I personally on a FWD car would like the rear end to be slightly looser to help bring it round.
Also yes Richie I'd get the alignment done first to find out how the cars currently setup and then you can work out the correct size shims to buy for the rear.
Anything past standard camber on the rear isn't really necessary unless you want it for looks IMO. Even on track I've never really heard of anyone wearing out the outside edges of the rear tyres so I don't see any reason to run extra rear camber.
If however the rear beam isn't quite bang on (which it usually isn't) then shims are a great way to get the car back to standard alignment. Around -1 degree camber on the back is standard I believe.
