Rear floor 'stuff' removal - help please

  182 Cup
I've taken the rear seats out to reveal the metal floor, but can someone tell me what the two materials marked on the picture are, whether I can remove them without leaving any problem areas beneath, and how?

sound deadening . fromt he exhaust and yes this can be removed , but i have heard its quite hard . as in takes a while

1) tar patch, can be removed with heat gun and scraper and degreaser

you will find loads of tar if you take the carpet out

2) no thats where they have welded the flat floor into the boot to remove the spare wheel well from earlier clios. Im going to leave that alone

Thanks, I thought that might be the case with (2), it just looks so untidy! The material is squidgy (for want of a better word) though - surely it can't be structural? Or could be at least removed and then re-applied to a better standard?

the big rectangle piece isnt sound deadening ?

If it is, it wasn't thought about for the 182's! It's where I'd expect it to be on a 172 (where the exhaust runs), but on a 182 with the exhaust in the middle - pointless!

No.2 is seam sealer where the weld for the flat panel instead of a spare wheel well is, leave that well alone.

The soundproofing you can f**k off if you want.
