rear fog light flashes on when braking

my rear fog light warning light on the dash comes on when braking, using indicators etc. any ideas what may be the problem?? this is on a mk2 ph1 1.4 s
any help appreciated thanks

hmm, try taking off the plugs on the rear clusters and give them a spray with WD, failing that check the earths, and failing that maybe resolder the dash plugs? thats my best guesstimate anyway

using the search function would have saved you time,

there's hundreds of threads on this problem, it's just that common!

its corrosion in the light cluster, either cut it out and wire a new one in,
or just clean the connectors up, it should solve it!

i have looked at connection on rear clusters and they are fine no corrosion or damp, however can remember changing numberplate bulb and was corroded a lot do you think this would be the problem ??

no i dont think that would cause this, disconnect it and check to be sure

you should give the cluster connectors a spray to be sure, you can also try disconnecting them one at a time and seeing if the problem is still there, if it is must be a connection problem elsewhere

i did see on another post that the numberplate light was a problem, cant see how either but worth a try, will have a fiddle when the ph2 lights go on.

mine used to do it all the time,
and they also didnt look corroded at all,

i just gave the plug a wiggle, and at a certain angle, it worked perfectly,
had to do it every couple of months mind!

this is a design feature that volvos and and buses etc have. i dont know if renault have followed... but have u checked to see if ur brake lights all work and same with ur lights on then break. cus if one is out it trips onto a fog light just because its a brighter light.

Does your fog lamp actually illuminate when you press the brakes ? My dash indicator flickered from time to time, generally in the wet, but I checked and the actual fog lamp was not coming on.

i have now sorted problem, replaces my lights for ph2 ones and new number plate light nd its fine now so dont know what was up
