Rear Shocks leaked - Replace rear or allround?? :S

As title realy, been advised by my local reno specialist, rear shocks have pissed oil! aahhh so how vital are they to replace?? also shall i think about coilovers, new shocks all round or just replace the rear broken ones?

use genuine only if you're staying with the original, very important to fix, your car will be handling like s**t at the moment

hmm i might just replace the shocks then as coilovers or a new sus set up is going to be well over 110 (the price for two new rear shocks)........

Do the front struts ever need to be changed then? in your opinion

Just replace the broken ones? Thats like saying, I have a puncture in my front passenger tyre, shall I replace this one or all the tyres?

ha true! i was just thinking of an excuse to get a new setup but i just cant afford it! wouldnt mind it sitting a little lower but i dont wanna go down the 'springs. route, would rather get coilovers tbh.

personally id look at a decnt set of coilies

and get some second hand shocks for the rears for now

i bought 2 for £30 an take 10 mins to replace

you will be amazed how different your car will feel on new shocks compared to fubared ones

ahh, i have been looking in the sale section but not many shocks come up. I would like to replace them for coil-overs but thats going to be 500 + :S stock setup is fine for me tbh so might invest in new shocks for the rear.

Are the front shocks prone to leaks or anything that might cause them to be replaced?

Will go down the road like a bin lid in a gale if you leave it.

When I first got mine I just presumed they drove like crap at speeds.

With new rears, it drove much much better

it's best practice to replace shocks as an axle pair. You'll be fine to just change the rears without doing the fronts, as long as the fronts are in a usable state

when arnt they in a usable state? do they leak like the fronts? or will it be like sailing a boat on the see, bouncy as ferk!? they seem ok to me when going round bends, speed humps etc

I bought coilovers so was replacing them anyway. Wasnt until I took it off that I realised it was more of a broken bicycle pump than a shock.

oh right, the only reason i knew one went is beacuse there was oil all over the drive way and it was still coming out of the shock! i thought it was from the sump at first! U reckon i need to change the rear springs aswell as the shocks? seen as theyve been holding up two broken struts lol

Shouldnt need to. My shocks were a right state, and the springs were fine. Again, they were replaced as part of the kit anyway, but I would say they were fully serviceable.

This really. And the rears are a piece of piss to swap out on a 182. I swapped my rears last year (?) after the nearside rear pissed it's oil out. I didn't even think for one minute of replacing just the one - I got two new rears and genuine Reno ones at that.

lol, it's not complicated! Just get the rears replaced and don't worry about the fronts, or the springs. Fairly common on clios, rear shocks going but the fronts seem to last better. If you want it lower, get some springs, but change the rear shocks first.

Just had my whiteline put on and one of my rear shocks is leaking too best to get two from Renault then? Is £110 a pair what I should be looking at paying?
