For future reference as it may help some, I've just fitted a new stub axle to my phase 172 due to an ABS sensor fault.
The phase 2 stub axle was the thicker 18mm iirc from a 51 plate 172.
The replacement stub axle was from a phase 1 172 and was the thinner stub axle.
Ill fit an ABS sensor to the thicker axle one day but thought this info may help those looking for the correct part.
