Rear wheel bearings - Pain in the arse or OK ?

  Hopefully a Clio 172 soon
My 172 is making a rumbling noise from the rear at motorway speeds so I'm thinking the rear wheel bearings may be on their way out.

Is swaping them a right pain in the arse or is it an OK job on one of these ?

If so, where's the best place to get some new ones from by mail order ?

Ta Chaps.

Take the disk off yourself, buy the bearing from a local factors to you, take to a garage, get the to press the old on out, then the new one in, give the man a tenner then refit. Max cost £35-40.

Thank goodness my old boy has a press at work. Saves a fortune. As Gav says, if the discs are OK, just buy new bearings.

Best mates with the bloke who presses mine now, feels like i'm their every month lol.

Last time he pressed the rear bearing out, it measured 25ton, then snapped it straight in half, made a heck of a noise, ringing ears and the like...

Last time I tried pressing a bearing in, I got impatient while my dad turned the press on so I tried it on a vice. I wish I hadn't as I ended up splitting the vice. He wasn't happy. Woops
