Rebuild Options For Clio Gearbox

  03 clio sport asc
Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone can suggest what should be carried out while rebuilding my Clio Box. A quaife will be rebuilt and refitted.

I was told we change front bearings, new speedo hub kit, selector shaft bushes and new seals.

is there anything else that needs to be done, what causes the box's to leak?

what fails on these? syncro's can only be replaced, as in you cant get aftermarket ones can you?

I had a VW box build years ago which we fitted Albins gears as we were running 10X the power, is this necessary in a clio? are aftermarket gear sets even available for the clio?

I would like to run full slicks and alot more power in the future so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Iirc the selector shaft is the common spot for the box leaking. So if you address this you should be good for leaks then!

Tbh I'm not sure what else you'd have to replace, as I'm not running a diff. but will be rebuilding my box next year with new synchro's and whatever else is worn.

Just stick with standard shift link tho, I have a short shift kit and I'm going to be removing this when it's rebuilt :)

bump - any other thoughts? if one was to run say a turbo and slicks on a track, would the standard gearbox be up to the challenge?

Upto around 250/250 and you'd need to be careful.

Best best is the VAG conversion, but it is a lot of money
