Recaros/Aftermarket Seats

  2015 ST2(MO)/CorsaLE
Hi all, have been seriously considering a 197 cup with recaros -but at the moment i cant justify spending what would be 5k (if it was a good deal) as my cup is mint and ive spent so much time on it to get it looking just like i want it! ive decided im going to bite the bullet and get some recaros (new) as im picky! or some other after market seats (that fit easyish) LOL

Any thought please on what to go for?
Places to get them from?
Help with fitting please? as ive never done this before

Thanks all :approve:

Look forward to your help :)

Been thinking the same dude. Even thought about selling for 182FF!!!

I have been doing lots of research and i think you def need recliners not buckets.

So i would look at Recaros or Cobra Daytonas/Misanos.

Found somewhere that sells Daytonas for £450ish and you need subframes on top.

i know its going to be around 1100 pounds i think that more sensible then spending 5k on a 197 cup :)

Dude u could get a mint 1977FF with cup packs for 5k on ur cup!

Is what i want to do if i had 5k!!!!

if you want to buy a set of recaros which i truley recommend then i would go for a set of trendlines which were a option on 182 ff and cup and were standard on trophys.

They are expensive but worth it, try this for ideas and for fittings

What are peoples thoughts on the recaro speeds?
I had a sit in one at the Autosport show and i thought they were really good. They were priced up as £330+options each.
Worth a look maybe Paul?

Personally mate I think the R26 / 182 Trophy Recaros are spot on.

Plus should be able to get them second hand if you wanted to source them cheaper; and as they were an option on the 182 you could always keep them in to add value to the car at resale.

it does work out expensive, by the time you add the seats, subframe, resistor kit for the airbags(side airbags on the seats if you have on the cup). But it is probably the best mod i ever done to my clio.:)

I've tried a few different seats in the clio's. Personally I wouldn't go for Recaro's, great seats but as they use the original sub-frame, they don't lower the driving position enough. I went for Cobra Daytona's. I have a really bad back, and they are the only seats I've sat in that I could sit in for a few hours without any aches, plus they lower the seating position nicely, and are supportive enough for a track day.

thats is true the recaros dont sit that much lower than the standard seats unless you modify the subframe, but i went for the recaros for comfort, the fact they are much, much better than the standard seats and that they have a standard look about them in renault sports, so they dont look out of place.:)

Fair enough, I'd go and try them both and see which you prefer.

Just noticed you have a 182cup, as I did. The Cobra fabric actually looks more standard than the Recaro's, because you don't get alcantara on the door cards etc.

Warren what did you do about sub frames please and who fitted them??!!

where did you get them from / price etc! really interested in the seat you had!!

Got sub-frames from Cobra. Wasn't to confident when I got the car, so paid a motorsport company to fit them (£100). But, having seen how it's done, I'd do it myself, probably a few hours work. It's easier as you don't have side airbags.

As for price, it was more than they charge now. With fitting it was about £800! If fitting yourself, and buying now, think you could do it for under £600.

^^ My dad said he would help me fit them! were did you buy them from please ^ would be interesting to sit in them before i bought them but i dont think thats possible! so the subframe should just bolt in ??? :S and as you say because i havent any side airbags do i not have to bother with this resistor thing?? :S
thanks for your help!

Think a lot of Halfrauds big stores sell them, so you could prob try them there? If you're round Brum at all, good friend of mine has this set up (I sold my 182), so you could prob have a nose around his. I ordered them direct from Cobra, but I think there was a thread somewhere about a possible group buy, might be cheaper there?

Stick your name down there, we might be able to get a decent price (I'm after some for my 172).

You can deff get them cheaper than that, and they are deff reclining, don't think the subframe would affect the reclining?

so im best to wait to see what the group buy get do you think?

What colours were yours?

Also is it simply bolt out bolt in?

As i havent any side airbags to i have to worry about resistors? or is that somthing that doesnt concern me?

Thank again

btw ive put my name down

we are workin on a group buy paul. Non- tilt means the frame won't tilt which is necessary for buckets. The daytonas are reclinin and have a built in function for tilting forward.

Colour was black rock, with anthracite suede patches.
Fitting is 4 bolts per side, quite easy.
Not sure about the resistor, I think you would need resistors as the wiring is the same regardless.
I'm gonna wait on the group buy, see what price we can get them for.

My insurance was only a few quid, make it clear that you're not losing side airbags as you don't have any

I'm looking at getting the Recaro Speed Sports seats. Am I right in saying that I can use my original 172 Cup subframes?

  VRS
i wouldnt bother with treadlines, the seating position isnt any better than standard and the side bolsters are too soft to hold you properly when giving it some around the bends
