RECAROS OR NO RECAROS?

  M2 Competition
Sat in a few yesterday, go for the recaros. Only thing i didnt like about them was how narrow the backs are (the standard renault seats are really narrow too though), and how difficult it is to get out!

Asides from a few 197 owners, are most of the replies in this thread based on the looks?

yeah true.. So they are comfortable then?
Can they be adjusted quite well? like moving back and forward and up and down? or is it one size fits all?

  Evo
Seats go back and forward on the rail and can be moved up an down to a small degree, never tried reclining mine funnily enough.

Comfy to a degree, if you like hardcore then they wont pose a problem.

  RS200
Yeah i dont mind i didnt think the cup chassis was toooo hard on the bumps so the recaros should be ok

  Evo
Get alot of problems with the recaros wearing prematurely though, subframe has been known to rust under the paint too. something to keep in mind.

  Evo
They are, but its not the point. Its a pain in the arse to keep takin it back to the stealers for new parts, apparently the seats take a couple months to come in so you'll have to live with big tears for that long.

However, if your having the 200 they may well have rectified the fault, it is a known problem to them.

i would not dream of buying a 200 without them ive got them and have been on a two and a half hour journey with no problems but could be a issue if your doing seven hour journeys

  Trophy 265/500
Would echo everybody's recommendation to go for the Recaro's even though I avoided them and went standard. Having titaniums rods/cages in my spine kinda swayed my decision.:(

Why? I've got a three layer lumbar fusion with 3 cages plus the associated Meccano and find the Recaros in my Trophy comfier than pretty much any seats (outside of totally immobilising Sparcos.)

So yes, Recaros ftw.

it could go the other way if to many spec recaros someone will always want normal seats i doubt they offer enough ajustment for me

im looking for the best of both worlds comfort and handling

It's relative to the pain/discomfort than the amount of iron in your back

Do it, then you wont have the chance to regret it.

Two days after I bought my 182 a mate had lent one for the day off another lad we know. The car had been fitted with recaros and he was sending it back as the finance he had on it was extreme and my mate said "offer him £150 to £200 for those seats and he'll snap your hands off". After just buying the car and liking the standard seats I decided not too, a few weeks on I realised what an utter utter fool I'd been :(

  PS 200
There's fcuk all wrong with the STD seats.

If you want to spend £850 so the next registered keeper has nicer seats that's up to you ;).

As for the Cup chassis - again the STD 200 is like a go cart - I reckon the cup chassis will shake you up too much - Guess it depends on the roads you're on but the b-roads up here can shake you up big style.

The wife commented last night on how comfy the STD seats are and how harsh the ride was (oooh err).

2 track days per year versus the rest of the year driving "normally".

As for adding 850 to a car that costs 15k - You can get a bog standard 200 for 13,800 - You'll end up spending 15,500 (maybe more) - it's all totting up !!

ps You were asking about getting the Stereo upgraded to include to Bluetooth - I'd be wary of that as the std stereo aint loud enough (says 4x20 watts - hmm must be quiet watts!)

Anyway - just sharing my views - choice id obviously down to you - good news it's coming sooner

The normal stereo isnt loud enough? hmm sounded ok when i used it in the showroom.
I wont be paying £850 for the next owner to have them. im going to have them and enjoy them.
The way i see it is that i may as well get them becuase i,ll never find out if there good if
i never have them and i think they will be a good investment because i will regret it

  Whichever has fuel
If you've ordered the car and got discount, the discount will have been worked out on a percentage.

That Percentage will also carry over onto any options ordered. If he sas its not, he's lying.

So in other words he should get the Recaros cheaper then?

B*****d's, they should give me my wheels at a discount then.

If he got discount on the car, yes.

If he walked in hands up and paid full whack, No.

Thanks for that Dan. I should be getting some money of my wheels then.

I don't think it will be a lot though, but every little penny helps.

  RS200
I think the only reason i want the recaros is the way they look. i know there not going to be as comfortable or practical as the standard seats!
It just somthing to show off to your mates really? lol
Im so stuck on what to do
