Rechargeable batteries for camera

I want to buy some new spare rechargeable camera batteries and wonder what is the difference between these and do some last longer than others? Thanks.

They're all nickel metal hydride (sp?), other main kind of rechargeables are ni-cad, which i dont know the long version of.
The reason those will be getting more expensive^^ is because they are getting "stronger" in non techical terms lol, Should last slightly longer as you go down the list

Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries will last longer (in life terms as well as charge times) than Nickel Cadmium.
As a general rule, the higher the capacity, the better.
Remember though, not all chargers can deal with Ni-Mh batteries and the best chargers have a conditioning cycle which makes sure they are fully charged.

Also, the higher the capacity of the batteries i.e 2700mAh, the longer they will take to charge up.

Energizer do some 15minute or 1hr chargers.

I've got a 1hr charger and I can fully charge 2400mAh batteries from flat within that time.

No problems with battery life either, they last ages.

Its a simple electronic circuit built into the charger that flattens the battery out completely before re-charging them, sometimes they have a pulse charge phase which increase the batteries ability to hold a charge.

Most mobile phones have Ni-Mh batteries now, and the intelligent charger circuit is built into the supplied charger or some cases the phone itself.
