Recommend me a 1TB external hard drive.

So, decided that moving all my mp3's to an external drive is the way forward. But which one?
It'll be used to connect to my laptop for use with Serato and DJ'ing.

I have 5tb's worth of western digital elements ehdd's. Not obtrusive looking at all, and have had them for years, don't make a noise and are really quick to load up and transfer files to and from


Seeing as your into djing though, I'd reccomended keeping your set on your main drive for the night, with a backup on the external hard drive, along with the rest of your mp3's

I wouldn't want to risk having my main music program's read only from the external one as the read and write speeds via USB are limited compared to a built in hdd, which will affect performance

Do those still come preloaded with bloatware? lol

Never been a fan since I had to download a tool to remove a virtual CD. Or something along those lines anyway. I wasn't impressed.

Dont think so. I've been using their drives for years and wouldn't use anything else tbh.

I know there NAS drive's are bloatware free, I cant see these portable drives being any different.

They come with WD SmartWare software (pre-loaded) but thats already part of the formatting so shouldn't be an issue.

If you plan to use with Lion or higher on OSX then it will also need re-formatting.
