Looks like we have no ICE boffins here :-( shame...

Oh well.. I would not use any subs other than Pioneer and RE audio, and maybe a few others... but 3004spl is a great budget sub, the RE's though are just serious kit. Massive excursion, power, and sound quality... you'll never see anything quite like an XXX or MT.

Driven by RE's own sub, and a JBL 74.5 (or something) for your Focal, Rainbow, RE audio, etc front components...

Thats then some serious kit... stay away from Sony subs, legacy, lanzar, or any other cheap crap.

i take it fusion are included in the crap s**t too then? lol

looking at some pioneer components now...
only pushin around 150watts tho? that good?
im a real newbie.

not very high tbh... just got a new headunit on the weekend.

ideally, £300 for a sub amp and come front comp's... i know thats not alot.

Pioneer comps are efficient, but yes they have little watts... but, that doesn't make them quiet. I mean, if Bose can get a 5watt wave radio sufficently loud... then I'm pretty sure Pioneer can get a good pair of components very loud.

Personally if it was me mate, get this:

and...

Rig that up, and you'll have some serious high/mid end... and quality sound as well...

However, dont forget to look up the big 3 and get yourself a good battery...

Fusion probably are crap, specially if it's less than £50 for a set of speakers - but it's subjective, you may like them.

If you want deep, powerful, low bass... and I mean LOWWWW then RE audio are the complete best. They have mad excursion, that no Sony, even Alpine, JBL or anything else can match... these are true monsters. They have a new range coming out april.. so look out!

RE's excellent amp...

www.bladeice.com < Contact the guy at BladeIce about the XXX's they are expensive... but man they have SERIOUS power. I mean, it is serious.

Don't laugh at it's 2000watts, it may seem little, but these beasts kick out more than anything else. It's a real 2000watts, remember other speaker manufacturers have to lie to compete... with peak, max power, etc. This is Normal Power Handling. Those RE xxx's can now handle 3000watts, no problem.

How s**t.... Halfords says it all really.. I mean, it's good value and all... but it will not do deep bass the way an RE does. It's probably distortion packed... i mean don't let me put you off here.... go ahead and buy it.. but theres a lot better out there... It sounds like I work for RE, but I don't... I'm just a fan of their excellent products.

Don't go for boxes or subs like that, it will have little excusion required for low bass which means it will distort easily on very deep tunes. Also, it is metalic cone, which isn't always good... plus... get SQplus.com to make you a custom box for your RE... I promise.. you will have a system to show off, it will really kick backside.

I've got:
Alpine CDA-9855R HU
Alpine CHA-S634 Changer
Infininty CS5012i Front/Rear
JBL GT4-12 Sub
JBL 75.2 Amp for Sub
JBL 75.4 Amp for Fronts/Rears

The JBL sub, amp and a wiring kit is avaliable from halfords for £170 (or at least was in store in the last 4 halfords i've been in) and for the money I don't think you can go far wrong. Its regarded as one of the best budget subs on talk audio and i'm completely satified with mine, brilliant piece of kit.
Though if you can be bothered with the little bit of extra hassle the RE will be better, though check out talk audio the peeps there really know there stuff.

both of those are the same price if not slightly cheaper in halfrauds iain...

whats the hassle with the 2nd pair?

the second pair are Component. I just want to wack some speakers in the door. Cant be bothered with xovers and tweeters. The clio has its own tweeters.
I saw them in halfrauds the other day. Im was stunned they sell some good stuff.

i'm running a sony headunit but ive got blaupunkt components all round and two blaupunkt subs in the boot - about 500 quid the whole system but boy what a system it is - great bass but gives crisp sound quality as well.

there are so many makes out there it makes it a bit of a chore choosing the write ones sometimes - i knew i took ages to figure out a system i wanted

The clio tweeters are crap and corssovers arent hard to hide away. Would only take a couple hours or so to put them in and the sound would be massively better than just sticking in some new speakers in the door.

But putting speaker cable into the clio doors is a major pain in the arse, i'd never do it again.
