What does the red button near the battery do on a mk1 172?

It resets the fuel computer if the engine stops due to a crash etc.

I think thats it Im a little slow at the moment.

Its the inertia switch, basically its qa ball bearing in ther, when you have an impact sufficient enough to move the ballbearing it stops the fuel pump relay. by pressing it down your pushing the ball bearing back down so the electrical circuit for the fuel pump is made again.

Good trick is to tap the side of it on a mates car. Wont start again till its pressed
