Red Faction : Guerilla. Erm, ok?

Just how do you take down 12 antennas with the entire EDF army after you - when your only hope is in an armoured jeep that has the directional stability of using a pogo-stick on a waterbed and being smashed out of your tree while doing so?

I mean, I managed to smash 9 of the b*****ds before road-blocks and kamikazi EDF drivers caused multiple pile-ups, like so....

Coupled with the 3rd person perspective, surely its more a fluke than skill if you manage to do it? Or do you have to generate shedloads of money first to get decent upgrades, before you even attempt this?

I just laughed when all this was going on - a definite 'WTF' moment!

I think it's a great game so far, but I'm struggling with the 3rd-person views when driving vehicles - as I said in the other 1st vs 3rd person thread. On foot, it's a much better game.

hmm never encountered an issue, nailed it without a problem iirc. finished the game and the only issue i had was the last level so to speak.

perhaps u shud do other missions around it until u get a bit tougher?

The 'armoured' (and I use that term loosely) jeep, changes direction as quick as an F1 car on a warm-up lap - meaning that even lining up the approaching sensors to mow down is a task in itself. Couple that with the fact that you have 12 of them to take down and by the time you hit the 2nd one, there are at least 6 EDF vehicles trying to ram you off the road. Each one obviously then knocks you off-line for the approaching sensor tower..... and all the while, you're under fire?

I think as David says, the only hope of doing that mission is to come back to it. Either that or Volition - you need to get some better games-testers or ones who aren't using cheats in the developer console.

If the FRAPS capture file wasn't so big, I'd upload this on YouTube for you to see...

I got this game for free when i bought Metro 2033 from game yesterday, i may play it one day but I'm not a fan of 3rd person, the original red faction was such an awesome game i think playing this may ruin it.

Quite easy mission, if you take the sensors down the easy way. If you look there are jumps quite near to most of them, means the EDF cars can't get nar you if you hit them. Don't slow down just keep it floored at all times. If you miss one ignore it and carry on to the next. You basically do a circuit so keep it floored and you can't go wrong. Can just get the missed one next time around.

Quite an easy mission to be honest. As long as you avoid the EDF cars them shooting the s**t out of you won't do much to the armour. Just don't go back for ones you have missed straight away. Pass it easily then.

You're probably right!

I think I'd do better if the handling (ahem) of the vehicle didn't have the dynamics of a soggy garlic bread. It just bounces on and off any slight deviation in the road and several times I've been pile-driven by an EDF vehicle when I'm in mid air. I seem to manage to get it on its side or on it roof more often than on all four wheels.

Am I right in saying that you get 'one shot' at taking all 12 towers down? The instant they get anywhere near you, you're fecked?

Just seems waaaaaay too difficult for such an early stage in the game and I really, really don't want to resort to cheat codes. That's the ultimate fail.

Well, tried it again and completed it...... just. Then completed another hostage rescue mission afterwards.

I doubt I'll see this through to the end. It has masses of potential imo, but the infuriating 3rd person view just grates..... then made worse by the awful vehicle control that bounces and rolls at the slightest opportunity.

Definitely a flawed gem, this one.

shame mate, i never had the issue you had with that mission, i took the game through to completeltion, one of the better games i'd played. never had issues with the camera either :-/

It is a shame. I've never been a fan of 3rd person views - even on the likes of Gears of War, but the one in Mass Effect 2 worked almost flawlessly for me. This one just doesn't.

It actually feels 'awkward' on a keyboard & mouse combo - something which in itself seems really bizarre to me.

I really wanted to like this. I bet if they ever released a 1st-person mod for it, I'd go back to it.
