Red ring of death

Had a quick google and there seems to be mixed opinions.

Its been fine for well over a year, I go to turn it on tonight, red ring :evil:

Fault code is E74.

Anyone experience it? Am I just best off buying a new xbox as I can imagine fixing it to be a right tw@t.

exactly, go to support on the xbox webiste, they email you a label, ups pick it up the next day, you have it back a week later tops

was just about to send mine back with the ring of death,

stuck a hoover in the vents, left it unplugged for abit,

hooked it up for one last try and it worked, :S

Send it back if its in warranty, 3 years on E74.

Which, is:

GPU - HSIO calibration CRC failures encountered on retrain attempt (HSIO - high speed input ouput)

... So Im told by a man who knows his spuds.

If (for any reason ) its out of warranty....

Straighten board, remove x-clamps, heatgun back of GPU / H-ANA chip.

New thermal paste, apply heatsinks and washers / bolts instead of X-Clamps.

I've also had RROD.... disconnected xbox, connected it back up and it worked fine since.
