Refitting front struts on the 182 problem

Looking for a bit of help. I'm changing a top mount bearing on the 182 and I'm trying to refit the strut assembly but it seems too long to get it back on the hub. It's like it has stretched longer. I've tried to see if I can compress the spring with a pair of compressors but they don't fit up the strut well. Is there a trick to refitting?

Wishbone needs levering down a bit is all.

Just get someone to stand on the wishbone and push it down slightly.

Does this look right? The bottom of the top part sits on that nut.
