Remap Complete!

  Mini Clubman
Hey,

had my rempa done today but i dont notice any differance until u hit the limited and i noticed it now revs higher.

what should i be noticing?

help guys!!!

tom

which map did you have done?

mine was a lot smoother incl. idle, more torque around the 3.5k mark and the 5k kick was slighty less noticeable. your never gona notice a massive difference tbh as its a n/a engine.

a remap on a n/a car is never going to be amazing, If you were to have strapped it down on some rollers before and after im sure the graphs would of told the tale. What other mods do you have to compliment the remap??

i have a cat back miltek and a knN induction

Dosnt the ecu have to learn the map and therefore takes a few running in miles to fully know what to do

it should just be straight away thats what paul at rs tuning told me he pritty much tells the ecu what to do with the new map put on it so i wouldnt think it would have owt to learn :s please tell me u went to chipped up in hinckley

I didnt really notice a difference with the RS tuner RON98 map, aside from the raised rev limiter, however I wasnt sure how safe this was so I never take it above 7000rpm anyway

for the ecu to learn the map? duno how true this is

This is true, your ECU has to have like a running in time to adjust to the new map.

Are standard ECU's OBD2 or do you need to get a piggyback ECU before you can get a re map?

No one argueing kiddo, people just think that who has done your map is fobbing you off saying it will get more powerful as you go along, when mapping is done live.

  172 cup & 182
I got a Supperchip remap done to my 182 and it was noticeable straight away right across the rev range more power+better economy also had the rev limit raised to 7800.

It's instant, as soon as the programme is changed, it's changed. It's not time delayed and the ECU doesn't learn the new map.

The ECU will adapt to changes in airflow/Fuel octane levels etc

So breathing mods will take time to bed in, but not a remap

i dint say that. i said that may take 50miles to get into swing

all we are saying is that bloke who done it and said can take up to 50miles to get used to it sound rather odd cuz mapping is dont live and doesnt take any period of time/miles to get into the swing of it

If you cant tell the difference then it's pointless and i'd be asking for money back!

  Mini Clubman
ive asked for my money back guys and im getting it back tomorrow. gonna get my self booked in with rstuning. what do you think?

will having the ecu turned put back to what it was before harmful?

It sounds like there is a load of cowboys in the mapping game!!! what a load of crap about the map taking 50 miles or so to work lol, your only ever gonna see massive gains if you have a turbo charged engine. Probably not worth the money you spent.

  Mini Clubman
yeah i guess. gonna get my money back tomorrow. which is good news! i dont know if it will hurt the car reverting the process though?

  Honda ATR
not it wont fella!!! in simple terms a remap alters fueling and the ignition timing, by tweaking them both they are able to optimise power and torque outputs. they will just upload the standard map

  106 GTI
Renault install maps that have safe limits built in, basically for tolerances in fuel quality altitude etc, also by having it mapped you can set the limiter higher as most engines can rev higher but just limited to increase its life span.

Im sure a saxo engine was bench tested to 12,000rpm

Got it changed back today lads and got the £250 back. im happy now. i have decided im gonna get myself booked in with rs tuning.

Because it makes a good difference if done correctly!

What are the typical gains you see on custom maps paul? I can appreciate peak is a couple of bhp/nm at best.

But how about mid range? Are there big gains to be had lower down the rev range?

if you have breathing mods or an exhaust it can change the fuel/trim and running to work best with these mods

Nice of them to give you your cash back tho. Did they say it will take 50 miles to return back to normal :rasp:
