Its means the normal mapping for fuel /injection etc are adjsuted ie instead of 1ml of fuel being injected at 4k onb half throttle it gives 1.2ml etc.
It can give a few Hp gains not much though its mid range after all the stock maps on a normal standard car are designed by Renault to be close to what is ideal.
But the more bits ie exhaust induction kit cams head work etc the car needs more fuel to make use of the extra air since the stock restrictions have been removed thats where gains are a bit more noticiable. Still you won't see huge gains unless you start looking at cams etc.
